List Authors Widget 1.0
June 21st, 2006Display a list of authors in your WordPress Sidebar Widgets linking to the authors.php page.

Features:
- Optionally exclude Administrator account from the list.
- Use either full names or login names in the list.
- Optionally hide Authors without any posts.
- Works in current versions of all browsers.
Recommendations:
- If you're metablogging or hosting a blog network, this is a must!
Requirements:
- WordPress Sidebar Widgets plugin by Automattic
License:
No license; just trying to help out the WordPress community. Feel free to implement whenever you like. All I ask is that you leave a comment/trackback here so others can see your implementation.

Plugin Installation:
- Unzip/upload to /plugins directory.
- Activate via WordPress Plugins tab.

Hey, great widget. But I'm wondering if its possible to add the number of posts published by each author right next the name, displayed in the list? Like weblogsinc blogs? Cos I was just thinking that that would be a great feature..

Is there any way to edit the widget so that the sorting can be done by number of posts instead of alphabetically?

Hi Mike, Feature Request - Author name is linked to its URL and the count is linked to 'Search of his posts'. Any luck :) Would be useful for people where multiple people write at a single blog thanks Nandan

Is there a way to make this more usable? for example, I noticed that unless I hide empty authors, every subscribed user shows up on the list. Also, can it be modified to highlight a featured author, or a guest blogger? or even rate authors by popularity? Thanks, anji

I have three questions after installation: 1. All that shows up in my sidebar is "Authors." No names are listed from my my list of authors. 2. How do I manage the features? I can't find a page for that in my admin area. 3. When I dl'd the .zip file I got two .php docs. One is Get Author Profile and the other is Authors. I only see one of them in my Plug-Ins Tab in WordPress. Are they combined, somehow? thank you! Meredith
